QUASAR

Quasar is the association of the students at Computer Science and Engineering Department of Shri Guru Gobind Singhji College of Engineering and Technology, Nanded. Quasar aims to provide a platform for interaction and exchange of ideas amongst the students, alumni, industry, and all interest groups both outside and inside the department. Quasar involves in organising and coordinating events of interest to its members such as contests, magazines, and talks.

Quasar Alumni Group

The name Quasar is brainchild of CSE 2002 batch , it came into this world in year 2001 when CSE 2002 batch published the Quasar Technical Magazine - A Technical Saga. During the works on magazine, CSE 2003 worked with their seniors and got attached to this name. CSE 2003 decided to publish the magazine in 2002 but had to rollback the decision on the very last moment due to some technical problems. CSE 2004 continued the process and published the magazine in 2004 and also formed a CSE student's organization under the banner of Quasar.

During the final semester of engineering, CSE 2003 people decided to do something for their Almamater and hence formed a group of SGGS CSE Alumni, known as "Quasar - Alumni group". The Alumni group which was started with 12 unemployed students has now more than 25 Software engineers working with various multinationals. The Alumni team has representatives from various batches such as 1999 , 2003 , 2003 , 2004 and 2005.

Activities

Quasar organizes various contests such as project contest, paper presentation, and likes for CSE students and handsomely rewards to encourage students. To organize these activities we need funds and this is generated by a minimum membership fee of Rs. 500 per year. Though the min membership fee is of Rs. 500, considering the scope of activities and work done in last two years many members agreed to pay more than Rs. 500 now onwards. We are pleased to mention that there is no upper limit of the contribution.
The Quasar Alumni group has conducted various activities in last two years. Here is a gist of our past activities.

Year 2003 - 2004
  • Project Contest for BE 2004
  • Quasar Magazine - Paper Presentation
Year 2004 - 2005
  • Project Contest for BE 2005
  • Sponsored the prizes of Pragyaa - Software Contest.

Project Contest 2006

The motive behind organizing this project contest is to provide a platform for alumni to interact with the BE students. The final year project plays a key role in campus as well as off campus interviews. This contest will help the BE students to interact with alumni and get the idea about current trends in industry as well as industry expectations. TE and SE students can also interact with the alumni . This project contest also serves as a mini-alumni meet.
